About the Author

Sarah Lynn’s three young sons taught her how to race toy cars. Together they’ve used their imaginations to create roads everywhere (couch, kitchen floor, dirt, sand, rug, and the bathtub, just for starters.) The idea for 1-2-3 Va-Va-Vroom! came to Sarah when she was teaching her oldest son to write numbers. They began imagining the pencil as a car drawing its own track. Those vroom-vroom sounds made writing numbers so much more fun. Sarah is also the author of Tip-Tap Pop, illustrated by Valeria Docampo. She lives with her family in Camarillo, California. It appears the author has never actually seen a car race. Cute rhyming book with adorable illustrations, but some concerning factual inaccuracies. The race starts off with a checkered flag, there is a passenger seat in the race car (for a teddy bear), and everyone is only wearing three point restraints.If you're going to write a book about a car race, please know something about a car race before writing the book.

Endearing illustrations light up the racetrack as the cars go around 1, 2, 3 ... 10 times, va-va-vroom! Will they skid, will they slide, will they crash? Into the pit for a tire change, who will win? Three to four year olds will probably enjoy this, it was too simplistic for my five year old nephew. Of note, the only things we found to count were the three cars in the race and the ten laps. (In all fairness though, we were reading it with the Kindle app on my iPad, so we may have missed some true Kindle features.) Overall a very cute book.

Terrific book for kids who enjoy watching car racing with their folks. Charming pictures with kids as fearless drivers and SURPRISE - the girl wins the race! But everyone is a good sport and the kids cheerfully prepare for another race (and wonder who will win next time). A great example of enthusiastic play and good sportsmanship, with a little counting practice slipped in as part of the fun. A great Christmas gift for the preschool and kindergarten crowd!

I put this on my kindle fire for my grandson, age 2 and he will attend throughout and asks to repeat it. He is quite a busy boy and will not sit still for a book unless it interests him. I am glad I purchased this selection. Helps when stuck in traffic, at doctor's office, etc.

A counting book told with rhymes that has three children playing with toy cars and they are racing. I like that the children are boys and girls. There is a lot of action in the pictures and kids who like car books will enjoy this one.
